What is the Primary PE and Sport Fund?
Each year since 2013 the government has providing funding for primary schools called PE and School Sport Premium. This is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport.
The money goes directly to schools for the development and improvement of PE and sport provision and encourage the development of life long healthy living. The funding is calculated according to the intake of the school. The school then decides how best to use the money to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, encouraging all pupils to develop an interest in and enjoyment of active healthy lifestyles and have the opportunity to develop their personal best performance levels.
At Armathwaite School we consult the most important people ~ our children!
Through our student voice assemblies we have audited the PE and school sport provision in school and made action plans detailing what we will do to develop and improve it. Consulting all our students and our staff team means that everyone is involved in all decisions made.
Below are details of how we have decided to use our PE and school sport funding, why we made these decisions (what outcomes we planned to achieve) and our evaluations and impact reviews which monitor how effective our use of the fund has been and continues to be. Armathwaite School formed part of the crowd watching The Tour of Britain Cycle Race.We used some of our PE and School Sport Fund to pay for the transport, allowing us a rare and exciting opportunity to see a national sporting event in our area. This great occasion was made even more special by having a picnic in glorious sunshine in Mrs Anderson’s garden!
